A little more clarity
Your questions, answered.
A good decision begins with understanding. These answers explain Ekaah’s approach; the details of a purchase belong in the documents for that specific project.
Getting started
Do I need a group before I approach Ekaah?
You can begin on your own. Share your interests and Ekaah can use them to help form a community of people with compatible goals. If you already have a group, tell us about it.
Learn moreDoes registering interest commit me to buying?
No. Registering interest starts a conversation. It does not reserve land, require a payment or create a purchase commitment. Any purchase follows separate project documents and agreed terms.
Can I express interest in more than one category?
Yes. Choose ‘Still exploring’ on the enquiry form and describe the possibilities that interest you. You can also mention more than one category in your message.
Where are the projects located?
Locations are shaped by the community’s goals and the suitability of available land. Living aims for locations around an hour from a city, while Escape generally considers locations around two to three hours away. These are planning preferences; actual routes and travel times must be assessed for each site.
Ownership, costs and clarity
What exactly would I own?
The ownership structure is specific to each project. Before purchase, you should receive a clear explanation of your interest in the land, any individual parcel, common areas, rights and obligations.
Learn moreWho can purchase agricultural land?
Eligibility and permitted use vary by location and project. The relevant legal assessment must establish who can buy, what can be owned and what activities are permitted before purchase.
How are costs shared?
The project should set out the land price, transaction costs, Ekaah’s fees, development expenses and recurring charges. The method for dividing shared costs and any future contributions must be agreed in advance.
Is buying a larger parcel always cheaper?
A larger purchase may improve the negotiated price per acre, but the final advantage depends on the parcel, location, terms and all associated costs. Ekaah’s approach is to assess the complete project cost and make it clear to members.
Can I sell my land later?
Resale or exit arrangements depend on the ownership structure, local requirements and project documents. These terms, including any transfer conditions or fees, must be explained before purchase. A resale timeline or price is not assured.
Farming
Do I need farming experience?
Experience is not essential to express interest. Farming projects should explain the support available, the cultivation model and the level of involvement expected from members.
Learn moreWill I receive produce from my land?
The project’s cultivation plan should explain how crops are selected, managed and distributed, and whether members have access to produce. Availability depends on the agreed model and actual harvests.
Can I be involved without farming full time?
That is one of the aspirations Ekaah seeks to support. Each project should specify managed cultivation, opportunities to participate and what members are expected to contribute.
Can I build a home on farmland?
Construction depends on the location, land classification, applicable permissions and project terms. A future retirement goal should be discussed early so the site assessment considers it.
Does Ekaah promise investment returns?
The proposition is community driven land ownership and care. Crop income, future land values, resale opportunities and protection from inflation are not guaranteed. Any financial projection requires project-specific assumptions and costs.
Living and Escape
What infrastructure is planned for Living?
The ambition includes planned drainage and sewerage, water supply, underground electricity, pavements, walking and cycling routes, parks and play areas. Each project must state which works are proposed, approved, funded, under construction or complete.
Can a home cost the same as a city apartment?
Ekaah aims to explore the possibility of a home on your own land at a budget comparable to a city three-bedroom apartment. Any comparison needs a defined city, site, home specification and complete costs, including infrastructure and recurring charges.
Can I commute from a Living community?
Living considers locations around an hour from a city. Commuting suitability depends on the actual route, traffic, workplace and transport options; project information should include those details.
Who cares for an Escape property when I am away?
The project should define maintenance and security arrangements, the services available, associated charges and the responsibilities of each owner.
Can an Escape property be used for retirement or retreats?
Both are relevant interests to share. Suitability depends on permitted use, access, utilities, healthcare needs and the community’s agreed arrangements.
